What to do when someone dies
Immediate things to consider
Registering the Death
This is a legal requirement to formally acknowledge the ending of a life.
Organ donation in England has moved to an "opt out" system, often referred to as "Max and Keira's Law".
Arranging the Funeral
This will often be the family's main focus in the beginning and most people will want to follow the wishes of the person who has died.
Securing An Empty Property
Where there is a property, it is important that you take the appropriate steps to secure it.
Caring for Dependants
If there are any children or elderly relatives who were being cared for by the person who has died, then you will need to ensure that they are taken care of.
Looking after Pets
If the person who has died had pets, then you may need to arrange for them to be rehomed.
